Mara Discoe was born and raised in Park City, Utah, and has always had a deep love for the people and communities of the Wasatch Back. She began her collegiate journey on a Division I soccer scholarship, but after multiple season-ending knee injuries, she transitioned her focus to academics and began coaching youth sports. She later graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology on the pre-med track.
Mara took time away from school after undergrad to care for her ill father—a deeply personal experience that changed the course of her career and ultimately led her to pursue physician assistant studies. During that time, she continued coaching competitive gymnastics and soccer, while also working in a variety of roles across different medical settings.
She formed strong and lasting bonds with her athletes—so much so that 25 of the girls she coached were flower girls in her wedding. It was always her goal to support each athlete as an individual and tailor her coaching approach to their unique needs. These same meaningful connections are what she now strives to build with her patients to support their health and well-being.
Mara earned her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of New England.
She began her PA career at Heiden Orthopedics, where she gained valuable experience in orthopedic care. Today, she is thrilled to be part of the Kamas/Coalville Clinic team and is passionate about providing compassionate, relationship-centered, patient-centered, and evidence-based care in the community where she resides. She currently lives in Kamas, Utah, with her husband and children. Outside of work, Mara enjoys spending time outdoors with her family—hiking, skiing, swimming, horseback riding, enjoying sports, and spending time with family and friends.
